Context and Problem Statement

Charmrace.com is a garage running for 37 years; when the garage received a make over, it was time to update their website and mobile app.

  • Reports showed that customers were not fully engaging with the app, were unable to make online bookings/enquiries easily and that its functionality was not fit for purpose.

  • Users wanted to make MOT payments on the app for ease instead of going in or paying over the phone; this was especially for customers who had their cars picked up/delivered as part of the free service.

  • Charmrace has always had a very busy phone service, therefore it was simpler for customers to use the mobile app, to save a phone call.

Prototypes

High Fidelity Wireframes

  • Colour: Charmrace’s branded Bosch colour scheme, juxtaposed with grey metals to embody machinery.

  • Customers wanted their colour scheme fairly muted and not too overpowering.

  • When the customer hovers over the tiled icons, they contain affordances navigating to their many services.

  • Customers noted that the navigation, images and functionality of the app was more efficient and that they can now make an online enquiry to book their car on the go!

  • The additional functionality to make payment for the MOT (as it is a fixed price) was a vital function that made their garage experience simple.
